Wirefree Burglar Alarm

When the wirefree burglar alarm made its first entry into the world market, there was a bit of skepticism. People were not quite sure about the wireless technology; there were many complaints of the alarms going off needlessly and not stopping for minutes on end. This was certainly great inconvenience. And then the complaints started getting worse. People complained that the signal receptions of the wirefree burglar alarms were not as strong as the hardwired versions and thus several intrusions went undetected. There were incidents when houses with wirefree burglar systems were broken into without the alarm detecting the intrusion. Many people bought these costly alarms only to dump them a month later.

But now, with improved technology, these complaints have become things of the past. The teething problems have now been vastly improvised upon and today's wirefree burglar alarms are quite on par with their hardwired counterparts.

There are still some problems, or you might say, inconveniences with these systems. One of them is the higher cost in comparison to the hardwired alarms. You could buy two hardwired alarms for the price of one wirefree burglar alarm. Also, the running costs can sometimes get to be high. Since these are battery operated devices, and because you will need a lot of battery in the siren box, the receptor and in the key fobs if any, the overall expense increases. Some lesser companies are still maintaining the bad name for wirefree devices with their shoddy manufacturing qualities and poor services. But on the whole, the scenario has vastly improved.

In fact, some people feel that wirefree burglar alarms work quite well in residential areas. The fact that they are wirefree is of prime significance, naturally. Without wires, it becomes quite easy to install the alarms; anyone with a little bit of mechanical knowledge can put one up. The installation hardly takes a few minutes in most cases. Also, the lack of wires reduces chances of an electric fire and helps put up the device much more discreetly than a hardwired device.

Even the battery costs are reduced and sometimes completely eliminated by using dual power sources. By using a power source like solar energy, these burglar alarms can be made to operate virtually for free. The overall prices are also on a decline, which is making the devices much more affordable than they once were.

But the most important improvement is in their monitoring abilities. The wirefree burglar alarms of today are extremely sensitive and run on sensitive technologies such as infrared, which does not allow any intrusion to go without being monitored.

Quality-wise, it does not really matter today whether you are using a wirefree burglar alarm or a hardwired one. Companies like DSC and Micromark have come up with some good products that you can use. But if you are putting up an alarm in an already existing room, then it is good to go for the wirefree one so that you do not need to break up the existing decor.
